Signed sports card, shown crouched behind the plate in catching gear
Sports Card signed: "Bob Boone". Color, 2½x3½. Donruss baseball card #230 for 1986. Batting stats for his career and for 1981-1985 printed on verso. When he retired in 1990, Boone's 2,264 games caught stood as a major-league record. That mark was soon topped by Carlton Fisk, but Boone still ranks as one of the most durable catchers in major-league history. In 1977, his eight errors and three passed balls were the lowest totals among NL catchers. He started for Philadelphia's three straight division champions (1976-78) as well as the World Championship club of 1980. Boone was All-Star in 1976, '78-79 and '83, and won the Gold Glove in 1978-79, '82 and '86-88. He went on to manage the Royals and then the Reds. Boone is the link in three generations of Major League ballplayers, including his father Ray and his sons Brett and Aaron. Fine condition.
