Bob Denver signs a document with his given name.
Carbon Partly Printed Document signed: "Robert O. Denver" in
ink as Performer, 2p, 8½x11. No place, 1959 December 18. Denver has
also written his telephone and social security numbers beneath his signature
(blacked out on scan). Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for
Single Television Broadcast and for Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One
Calendar Week". Agreement between Bob Denver and Roncom Productions, Inc.,
New York, New York for Denver to appear as a "Guest Artist" on Perry Como's
Kraft Music Hall on March 9, 1960, 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Denver was to
receive $2,500 in compensation. Also signed: "Harvey B Sindle" as
Assistant Secretary for Roncom Productions, Inc. This was the first TV
guest starring appearance for Denver, who was then co-starring as beatnik
Maynard G. Krebs on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Comic actor Bob
Denver (1935-2005) is best known for two roles: Maynard G. Krebs on
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959-1963) and bumbling first mate
Willie Gilligan on Gilligan's Island (1964-1967). Denver, who would
reprise his latter role in several made-for-TV movies, had made his film
debut in 1959 (A Private's Affair). His film credits also include Take
Her, She's Mine (1963) and Back to the Beach (1987), and Denver also
appeared on Broadway in Play It Again, Sam (1969-1970). He also
made several guest starring appearances on television, from Perry Como's
Kraft Music Hall (1960) to ET in TV Land (2003), including
multiple roles on Love, American Style and Fantasy Island. Lightly
creased, not at signatures. Stamped at lower right margin, staple holes at upper
left corner. Slight show through of print on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
