BOB FOSSE - AUTOGRAPH - HFSID 25254
Sale Price $81.00
Reg. $90.00
BOB FOSSE. Signature: "Bob Fosse", 9½x3. Guest register
from some event. Fosse has signed above an illegible signature. On verso are
three signatures which merit further research: "Florence B Shaw - Talent -
charm - beauty ***", "Eve Braverman Herrup - We three are all for you", "Allan
[?] W Freedman - Tonite New York found itself again!". Robert Louis
Fosse (1927-1987), who won a Best Director Academy Award for
Cabaret (1972) and was nominated for a Best Director Oscar for
Lenny (1974) and All That Jazz (1979, for which Fosse was also
nominated for Best Original Screenplay), won a record eight Tony
Awards for Best Choreographer for The Pajama Game (1955), Damn
Yankees (1956), Redhead (1959), Little Me (1963), Sweet
Charity (1966), Pippin (1973), Dancin' (1978) and Big
Deal (1986). Fosse brought a number of his Broadway hits to the big
screen, but did not live to see his multi-Tony-nominated Broadway hit,
Chicago (1975), become an Academy Award-winning motion picture in
2002. Fosse, who occasionally acted, appeared with his third wife,
actress/choreographer Gwen Verdon (1925-2000), to whom he was married from
1960 until his death, in the film version of Damn Yankees (1958). Lightly
soiled. Fosse signature smudged at "F". Ink on each side shows through faintly.
Flourish from illegible signature crosses Fosse signature.
