BOB CROSBY. Typed Lyrics signed: "Bob Crosby", 1p, 8½x11. Titled: "A Foggy Day (In London Town)". Words by Ira Gershwin, Music by George Gershwin. This song, introduced by Fred Astaire in the 1937 film, Damsel in Distress, has been recorded by a number of performers, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald. Bob Crosby sang it on an episode of The Jack Benny Program and it was recorded by the clarinetist in his orchestra. George Robert "Bob" Crosby (1913-1993), the youngest sibling of actor/crooner Bing Crosby, began his career as a singer before fronting The Bob Crosby Orchestra and his "band within a band", The Bobcats, who were known for their Dixieland stylings. Crosby and his orchestra had four No. 1 hits, "In a Little Gypsy Tearoom" (1935), "Whispers in the Dark" (1937), "Day In, Day Out" (1939) and "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby", recorded at Bing's first session with his brother's orchestra in 1938. In addition to recording and touring, Crosby also had his own 15-minute radio show, Club 15 (1946-1952), and a half-hour daytime TV series, The Bob Crosby Show (1953-1955), and he appeared in a number of feature films from 1936 (Collegiate) to 1959 (The Five Pennies) and made guest appearances (often as himself) on several TV shows, including The Jack Benny Program (1952, 1953, 1956 and 1959). Crosby and his popular orchestra continued to tour into the 1980s, and the group, which features many musicians who played with Crosby during the last 15 years of his illustrious career, continues to delight audiences today. Lightly creased at blank areas. Fine condition.
