BOB HOPE, JACK BURKE and DOW FINSTERWALD
Black and white publicity photograph of Bob Hope, Jack Burke, and Dow Finsterwald on a golf course.
Photograph signed: "Bob Hope", "Jack Burke" and "Dow Finsterwald". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 6x4 (one surface). Also shown is Bing Crosby (not signing). BOB HOPE moved from vaudeville to Broadway films in the 1930s. Among the most popular of his 53 films were the "Road to ..." movies with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour (1940-1953). He won three honorary awards from the Academy of Motion Pictures (1940, 1944, and 1965). Hope entertained American troops over 50 years and four wars (1941-1991). His success continued with TV's long-running Bob Hope Show (1950-1967) and with guest appearances through 1992. A well known philanthropist and friend to Presidents, Hope was an avid golfer with his own tournament (the Bob Hope Desert - later Chrysler - Classic, begun in 1960). JACK BURKE's best years as a professional golfer were 1952, when he became one of only four men to win four PGA tour events in a row; and 1956, when he won both the Masters and the PGA. DOW FINSTERWALD won 11 PGA tour events (1955-1963), including the PGA (1958). He was one of the tour's three top money winners between 1956 and 1960. Slightly grainy image. Ink note on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
