1968" in red felt tip, 5x3 card. With a ¾x1-inch black and white newspaper
photograph of him affixed at top right. Multitalented British comedian, actor
and writer Bob Monkhouse (1928-2003) began a career that spanned over
four decades as a radio broadcaster and comedian in 1949. In 1953, he and
his writing partner, Denis Goodwin, had their own sketch comedy-based TV
series, Fast and Loose. Monkhouse was a popular figure on TV,
hosting variety and game shows and appearing in made-for-TV movies
and on several TV series, including The David Nixon Show (1972-1975) and
Aaagh! It's the Mr. Hell Show (2001-2002). He made several
feature films, including The Secret People (1952, his debut),
Carry on Sergeant (1958), Thunderbirds are GO (1966, voice),
The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom (1968) and Simon Simon (1970). Monkhouse
was also a nightclub comedian and a popular dinner speaker. He was
awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the British Empire) in 1993. Lightly toned at top right edge. Otherwise, fine
