MEDIEVAL HUMOR FROM BOB NEWHART

BOB NEWHART
Bob Newhart writes a humorous postcard to a fellow comedienne.
ALS: "Love Ginnie Bob & the Kids", 1p, 5¾x4¼. No place, circa 1981. To comedienne Phyllis Diller. In full: "Hi from Scotland. Not quite as exotic as some of your cards like Kearney Nebraska. This room is called the game room. People would sit opposite each other and stare. The first one to break up would be beheaded." The Pitkin Pictorial Postcard, printed in London, is captioned: "Palace of Holyroodhouse/Gallery". The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, is the Queen's official residence in Scotland. The postcard, however, bears a stamp of the Republic of Ireland and is postmarked in Dublin. BOB NEWHART and Virginia (Ginnie) Quinn have been married since 1964. They have four children. Originally a standup comic whose first record album sold 1.5 million copies, Newhart appeared in several movies but found the best niche for his dry humor in two popular TV series, The Bob Newhart Show (1972-1978) and Newhart (1982-1990). Comedienne PHYLLIS DILLER, known for her outrageous appearance, zany outfits, distinctive laugh and a stand-up act that featured frequent references to her fictional husband, "Fang", and zingers about her sex appeal and numerous plastic surgeries, also starred in films including Splendor in the Grass (1961), The Fat Spy (1966), Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number! (1966), The Sunshine Boys (1975) and The Silence of the Hams (1994), and she provided the voice of the Queen in A Bug's Life (1998). Paperclip impression at top center, most visible on picture side. Otherwise, fine condition.
