The 1980 Stanley Cup hero who won four straight championships with the New York
Islanders signed this index card that features a black and white photograph of him affixed
Signature: “Bob Nystrom”. 5x3 index card. Affixed the card is a 1¼x2½ b/w headshot
photograph. Bob Nystrom (b. 1952) played right winger for the New York Islanders
throughout his long NHL career (1972-1986). Known for his clutch play, Nystrom won
four playoff games with goals in sudden death overtime. Best remembered of these was his
overtime goal which won the 1980 Stanley Cup. Fellow players called him "Thor", but he is
forever known by Islander fans as “Mr. Islander”. Nystrom went on to win the next three
Stanley Cups with the Islanders. The team now gives a Bob Nystrom Award each year to a
team player showing leadership, hustle and dedication. His number was retired by the
team in 1995. Photograph irregularly cut. Lightly toned. Sticker adhesive in bottom left
