Newspaper photograph signed: "Bob Nystrom", in blue felt tip,
B/w 5¼x7¾ affixed to a card. Bob Nystrom (b. 1952) played right wing for the
New York Islanders throughout his long NHL career (1972-1986). Known for his
clutch play, Nystrom won four games with goals in sudden death overtime. Best
remembered of these was his overtime goal which won the 1980 Stanley Cup.
Fellow players called him "Thor". Fans called him "Mr. Islander". The team now
gives a Bob Nystrom Award each year to a team player showing leadership,
hustle and dedication. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Lightly soiled. Light
surface creases from adhesion. Otherwise, fine condition.
