BOBBY BEROSINI
The Czech entertainer is pictured with two of his Orangutan performers in this signed 5x7 photograph
Photograph signed: "Best Regards/Bobby/Berosini" in black ink. 5x8. Bobby Berosini, born Bohumil Berousek in the Czech Republic, is an entertainer known for his show involving live Orangutans. He had a show at the Stardust Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV starting in the mid-1970s, and in 1978 one of his orangutans, Clyde, appeared in Every Which Way but Loose with Clint Eastwood. Later, his act was featured in Going Ape!, a 1981 comedy film starring Tony Danza and Danny DeVito. In 1989 a Stardust dancer videotaped Berosini physically abusing his orangutans before going on stage with them. The dancer sent the tapes to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), and the resulting outcry forced the Stardust to cancel Berosini's act temporarily. After he attempted to bring his performance back, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service canceled Berosini's wildlife permit. As a result, Berosini filed multiple lawsuits against PETA and the dancer, but eventually was forced to pay a total of $417,000 in attorneys' fees to PETA and PaWS.
