Photograph signed: "Bobby Burnet". B/w, 10x8. Captioned for Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra by MCA management in lower margin. Bob Burnet (1912-1984) was a big band trumpeter and a featured guest of Charlie Barnet's Orchestra during the 1930s and 40s. Beginning as a drummer at the age five, Burnet taught himself the piano and banjo while still a schoolboy. Legend has it he traded his wrist watch for a trumpet with a classmate and he quickly became a master of it. Along with the Charlie Barnet Orchestra, Burnet played with Eddie Neibauer's Orchestra. In the late 30s he formed an interracial sextet but the group disbanded after a short time. In the postwar period he recorded with Freddie Wacker's Windy City Six before disappearing off to Mexico where he learned to play the flute in local orchestras. Lightly creased throughout and at corners. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
