BOBBY VAN. Carbon Partly Printed DS: "Bobby Van" in ink as Performer, 2p, 8½x11, front and verso, stapled to carbon typed document initialed "RK" at lower right corners, 4p, 8½x11, separate sheets. No place, 1956 February 16. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract for Single Television Broadcast and for Multiple Television Broadcasts Within One Calendar Week". Roncom Productions, Inc., Perry Como's production company, hires Van to perform as a "Guest Star" on The Perry Como Show at NBC TV, New York, New York on February 15, 1956 from 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. Van, who was to be paid $2,000 for his performance, was scheduled for rehearsals commencing on Wednesday, February 22, 1956. Van has written his telephone and social security numbers beneath his signature (blacked out on scan only). Also signed by a Secretary for Roncom Productions, Inc. and initialed "RK" at lower right corner. The carbon typed document is headed: "Additions Not Part of Standard Form". In the year he signed this document, Van also appeared on The Dinah Shore Chevy Show. Bobby Van (1930-1980) appeared in several musical comedy films of the early 1950s, including Skirts Ahoy (1952) and Small Town Girl and Kiss Me Kate (both 1953). After musicals declined in popularity, he appeared mostly in B movies, such as The Navy vs the Night Monsters (1965). Van was also a successful nightclub performer, often as Mickey Rooney's partner, he hosted the game show, Make Me Laugh, and he appeared on several TV variety shows and series. Van was married to actress Elaine Joyce 1968 until his death. First page is lightly creased. Stapled at upper left blank corner. Stamped at upper left portion, at compensation line and to left of signature line. Ink note (unknown hand) at lower left edge. Type on following pages is light but legible. Fine condition.
