BONAR COLLEANO

The famed actress and actor pen their autograph on this 4½x4 card, signed in blue ink. Extremely rare!

Signatures: “Bonar Colleano” and “All good wishes/Dolly Harmer/1951” in blue ink. 4½x4. American-born British actor BONAR COLLEANO (1924-1958) was born in New York City, New York. He appeared in over thirty films between 1945 and 1958. The dark haired American was found irresistible by British female audiences and he was married to English starlet Susan Shaw. He played the role of Stanley in the original London production of Streetcar Named Desire and his notable film roles include Johnny in the Clouds (1945), Eight Iron Men (1952), Joe Macbeth (1955) and The Man Inside (1958). Colleano died at the young age of 34, after crashing his sports car in Birkenhead, England. DOLLY HARMER (1867-1956), born Sarah Elizabeth Caron, was an English actress and variety artist who since the age of thirteen was an accomplished violinist. She played the leading parts of principle boy in many pantomimes and performed in music halls, often playing at the Tivoli, Oxford and Pavillion. As the first woman member of the Variety Artists Federation, she travelled to Australia, America and all over England, appearing in many Variety Shows; when she was almost fifty years old, she teamed up with Wee Georgie Wood and travelled around the world doing pantomimes and comedy sketches as his partner in jest. She almost always played his stage mother and also became known as the “Mother of the Forces” when she travelled abroad entering the troops. Dolly worked practically up until the day she died. Soiled. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
