BONITA GRANVILLE
Granville signed this document with RKO Radio Pictures in 1945 so that she could take "a trip east"... in return for extending her contract with RKO Radio, of course.
Document signed "Bonita Granville -". Also signed by an assistant secretary at RKO Radio Pictures. With notations on date, address and body of document in blue ink. 1 page, 8¼x10¾, carbon copy. March 8, 1945. Granville signed this document in order to get permission from RKO Radio to "take a trip east for a period of eight (8) weeks". RKO Radio agreed to this trip, but extended her current contract with them, which she signed on Sept. 15, 1941, to Aug. 1, 1945, as well as exercising other unspecified options in her contract. Granville (1923-1988, born in Chicago, Illinois) made her film debut in 1932 at the age of nine in Westward Passage and four years later she was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in These Three (1936). Known for playing the title role in four Nancy Drew films (1938-1939) and starring opposite Mickey Rooney in two Andy Hardy outings (1944, 1946), Granville also appeared in such films as Little Women (1933), Anne of Green Gables (1934), Maid of Salem (1937), The People vs. Dr. Kildare (1941), Now, Voyager (1942), Hitler's Children (1943) and The Lone Ranger (1956). She was also a familiar face on early TV anthologies (beginning in 1951), and Granville guest starred on several TV series, including Lassie (1965), which she produced and directed. Granville, who was married to producer Jack Wrather from 1947 until his death in 1984, was also known for her involvement with a number of charities. Lightly toned, creased and rippled. Tear on left and right edge and near lower right corner. Staple holes near top edge. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
