WHITE HOUSE REPORTERS: BONNIE ANGELO, CONNIE CHANCELLOR, TED KNAP, GEORGE HARDER and JACK DIXON
This sheet of paper is signed by five Washington, District of Columbia-area reporters, four of whom list their press affiliation. Affixed is a 1¼x2 black and white photograph.
Signature: "Bonnie Angelo Time magazine", "Jack Dixon/Boston", "Connie Chancellor/Kennedy Press", "Ted Knap/Scripps Howard" and "Geo. J. Harder/UPI", 6¾x9, with 1¼x2 magazine photo affixed at center. Bonnie Angelo (ca. 1924 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina) was a White House reporter and longtime journalist with Time magazine. Her publications include the books First Families (2009) and First Mothers (2007). Her book First Mothers was preceded by a television documentary with the same title in 2002. She has reported on First Ladies from Mamie Eisenhower to Michelle Obama. In 1998, she was awarded the International Women's Media Lifetime Achievement Award, having received acclaim for her work internationally. Connie Chancellor, the first wife of television news anchor John Chancellor, was herself a journalist. She wrote the "Ann Landers" column for several weeks in 1955 between the death of Ruth Crowley and the arrival of Eppie Lederer. Theodore “Ted” Knap (1920) was a White House reporter for the Scripps Howard News Service until his retirement in 1985. His "White House Watch" column was carried in 145 newspapers. He was surprised to find his name on President Nixon's "enemies list," since he considered Nixon one of the better Presidents. During WWII, Knap served in the United States Army. George Harder was White House correspondent for United Press International. No information is available on Jack Dixon.  Left edge ragged from previous binding. Otherwise, fine condition.
