The Russian cosmonaut signs his name on a document titled "Cooperation In Space", detailing agreements between the USSR and the USA on space exploration and space missions. A rare piece of space exploration history!
Commemorative sheet with First Day cancellation signed: "Boris Andreyev", in black ink, 1 page, 8x10¾. Washington, D.C. In part: "Striving for a further expansion of cooperation between the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes; noting the positive cooperation which the parties have already experienced in this area". The document continues to explain agreements between the two parties on cooperative space missions and space exploration, and was dated shortly after Andreyev was selected to be a cosmonaut. Boris Andreyev (b. 1940) is a retired Russian cosmonaut, active in the 1970's and 1980's. Achieving an engineering diploma while in high school, Andreyev was selected to be a cosmonaut in 1972, although he would never actually fly on a space mission. He was instead selected as a back-up crew member for various flights, including Soyuz 16, Soyuz 32, and Soyuz T-4. He retired from the space program as a cosmonaut in 1983 following injuries from a parachuting accident, but continued to work for them as a capsule communicator in their flight control center. Fine condition.
