Show Bill inscribed and signed: "Tommy, Best of Life/Ed Asner", "Madeline Kahn", "To Tom/All the Best/Daniel Hugh Kelly", "Franklin/Cover", 66 pages, 5½x8½. Playbill for a production of Born Yesterday at New York's 46th Street Theatre, signed on the front cover (which pictures Asner and Kahn). This first revival of Garson Kanin's 1946 play ran for 153 performances (January to June, 1989). Madeline Kahn received a Tony nomination as Best Actress in a Play. Operatically trained, MADELINE KAHN (1942-1999) achieved her greatest successes in manic comedy roles, earning Best Supporting Actress nominations for Paper Moon (1973) and Blazing Saddles (1974). She garnered a Golden Globe nomination for her short-lived TV sitcom, Oh, Madeline! (1983) and won a Tony for her performance in The Sisters Rosenzweig (1992). ED ASNER (b. 1929) is perhaps best known as the TV news editor on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-1977). When Moore ceased production in 1977, Asner took his Lou Grant character into an hour-long dramatic weekly about a Los Angeles newspaper. The show titled Lou Grant ran from 1977 to1982. Asner has literally hundreds of television credits (1961-2010) and voice credits for animation and video games that include The Simpsons, X-Men Legends, Max Steel, and Superman: The Animated Series. His more recent TV credits include: CIS: NY (2009), 6 episodes of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (2006-2007), 27 episodes of Thunder Alley (1994-1995), 5 episodes of Batman (1992-1994), and 16 episodes of Captain Planet and the Planeteers (1990-1992). A veteran of many TV drama and sitcom guest appearances, as well as Broadway and Shakespearean roles, FRANKLIN COVER (1928-2006) played Tom Willis, the husband in American TV's first inter-racial marriage, on The Jeffersons (1975-1985). DANIEL HUGH KELLY (b. 1952) made his mark in repertory and off-Broadway theatre before starring on the Great White Way revivals opposite Kathleen Turner in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1990) and Madeleine Kahn in Born Yesterday (1993). His first starring TV role was that of Senator Frank Ryan in Ryan's Hope (1978-1981) and his most prominent role: Mark "Skid" McCormick in Hardcastle & McCormick (1983-1986). Familiar to TV viewers from such shows as Law & Order, The West Wing and Boston Legal, he returned to daytime dramas in As the World Turns (2007-2009). He portrayed JFK in the NBC mini-series The Women of Camelot (2001). Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
