BOWERY BUCKAROOS MOVIE CAST: IRON EYES CODY, HUNTZ HALL
The co-stars of Bowery Buckaroos sign a Lobby card promoting the 1947 film.
Lobby Card signed: "Iron Eyes Cody 86" and "Huntz Hall". Color, 13¾x10¾. In the 1947 Monogram Pictures film, Bowery Buckaroos, the Bowery Boys head west to clear Louie (Bernard Gorcey) of an old murder charge that he had killed his gold mine partner. Sach (Huntz Hall) has the map to the gold mine painted on his back, and he is kidnapped by Indian Joe (Iron Eyes Cody). IRON EYES CODY (1907-1999) has signed in the upper blank margin above his image. He's added "Indian of the Year 84". Along the bottom blank margin, Cody has penned: "If you find another one like this in color I will pay you for it/Iron Eyes Cody 86". Iron Eyes Cody appeared in over 100 films and more than 35 television series as an American Indian but, in fact, his name at birth was Espera DeCorti. He was the son of two first generation Italian immigrants. Cody was best known as the Indian who sheds a tear for a blighted American environment in the "Keep America Beautiful" television ads that ran from 1971 into the 1980s. HUNTZ HALL (1919-1999) has signed in the lower right above his name; he is not pictured. Hall appeared in a total of 81 Dead End Kids/East Side Kids/Bowery Boys features and serials, more than any other actor. Hall always played the same type of role, first called Pig, then Glimpy and, finally, Sach. Coincidentally, Cody died at 91 on January 4, 1999 and Hall died at 79 just 26 days later, on January 30th. Lightly creased and soiled. Numerous tack holes and slight marginal tear in upper right (all intact). Overall, fine condition.
