BOX CAR WILLIE
The country music star has drawn railroad tracks under his signature.
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Love/Box Car/Willie", 5½x3¾. With the same pen he has drawn a railroad track under his signature. Lecil Travis Martin (1931-1999) developed the character of Box Car Willie during his quarter century as a US Air Force flight engineer (1949-1976). After retiring from the air force, he became a full-time country music performer, selling over 100 million records and becoming - in 1981 - the 60th member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1985, he opened the Box Car Willie Theater, with accompanying museum and hotels, in Branson, Missouri, becoming one of the first to establish himself in that new pop culture mecca. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
