BRIDAL SUITE: ROBERT YOUNG and ANNABELLA
Shown with Billie Burke in a still from the 1939 film
Photograph signed: "Robert Young", "Annabella". Sepia, 10x8. Both are shown with Billie Burke in a still from the film Bridal Suite (1939). Perhaps best known as Jim Anderson on Father Knows Best (television, 1954-1960; radio 1949-1954) and the title practitioner on television's Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), ROBERT YOUNG (1907-1998) also appeared in over 100 films. In some screen roles, such as the cold-blooded spy in Hitchcock's Secret Agent (1936), the no-good philanderer in They Won't Believe Me (1947), or the charming wastrel shown here, Young showed an acting range far wider than his likeable and wholesome TV characters. French actress ANNABELLA (1909-1996), born Suzanne Georgette Charpentier, was tapped at age 16 to star in Napoléon (1927). She was a star of French movies in the 1930s before coming to Hollywood in 1938. The following year, Annabella married her third husband (1939-1948), Tyrone Power; her second husband (1931-1938) was actor Jean Murat. Anabella's film credits include Dinner at the Ritz (1937), The Baroness and the Butler (1938), Suez (1938), Bridal Suite (1939) and Don Juan (1950). Annabella starred in two Broadway plays, an adaptation of Sartre's No Exit (1946), and before that her Broadway debut in Jacobowsky and the Colonel (1944). Minor surface creases. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
