Typed letter signed: "Brig Berney", in blue ink, 1 page, 8½x11. June 10, 1986. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis, My name is Brig Berney and for the past four years I have worked for Tommy Tune. I am sure I am not the first person to notify you that MY ONE AND ONLY was omitted from the most recent issue of THEATRE WORLD. We were running both Broadway with Sandy Duncan and Don Correia and briefly with Sandy and Tommy and also on national tour with them and later with Lucie Arnaz. It is upsetting to me to have worked so hard to make audiences so happy and not to receive proper documentation from the only book of it's kind which chronicles the legitimate stage, especially Broadway. I am well aware that you must amass a huge amount of material for each year, but find it odd that a major Broadway musical and it's subsequent nat'l tour was overlooked. However, the book is out and I hope it is doing well. I can only hope that in the years to come, the Broadway shows that I am involved with will be included. Sincerely". Brig Berney is a Broadway manager and press agent, working on Broadway for over 25 years. His first work on Broadway was for Grand Hotel in 1989, working as a press representative. He quickly jumped up from the position to become company manager in his next work on Solitary Confinement (1992), working as a company manager from then on. His role as company manager has been a persistent one for the past years, working on notable plays such as Hello, Dolly! (1995), Rent (1996-2008), High Fidelity (2006), and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella (2013). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased. Normal mailing folds.
