Autograph Note signed: "A. Hoefly", 1p, 4½x3½. Card printed
with her name. No place, 1976 April 27. To "Dear Mr. Engstrom",
in full: "Sorry about the delay in sending the photo. [Item
not included.] Once you retire it is difficult to find old papers, etc. Good
luck with your collection. Sincerely". E. Ann Hoefly (1919-2003), an army
nurse in the European Theater of World War II, transferred to the newly
formed Air Force in 1949. A practicing nurse in Air Force hospitals around the
world, she earned advanced degrees in flight nursing, psychiatric medicine, and
medical management. From 1968 until her retirement in 1974, Brigadier General
Hoefly was chief of the Air Force Nurse Corps. Tape residue at top edge.
