BRIGADIER GENERAL CARTER W. CLARKE JR. - AUTOGRAPH SENTIMENT SIGNED 12/09/1971 - HFSID 24088
Price: $120.00
CARTER CLARKE, JR.
Combat veteran General to diamond entrepreneur
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Good luck and Best wishes!/Carter W. Clarke,
Jr./Brig Gen U.S. Army/9 Dec 71", 6¾x9¼. West Point graduate Carter W.
Clarke, Jr. saw combat in Korea and in three tours of Viet Nam. After
retiring from the U.S. Army as a Brigadier General, Clarke founded a
series of companies. In 1995, while visiting Russia for his Security Tag
Systems, which made anti-theft devices for retail merchandise, he learned that
Russian scientists were developing a machine to produce high-quality, synthetic
diamonds at a low cost. Investing $57,000 of his own money to perfect and
purchase the first such machine, Clarke then founded Gemesis, a Florida-based
diamond-manufacturing firm. By 2001, Clarke's firm was producing synthetic gems
at a cost and quality which offer real competition to DeBeers, the
longstanding industry leader in mined diamonds. Clarke's long-term goal is
even more ambitious: to use profits from the sale of diamond jewelry to launch
Gemesis into the production of diamonds as electronic semi-conductors. The
confident Clarke observed: "I was in combat in Korea and Nam. You better believe
that I can handle the diamond business." Slightly frayed left edge where page
was removed from a book. Otherwise, fine condition.
