CHUCK YEAGER
Photograph signed: "Chuck Yeager" below an inscription in another hand: "To Don Glossinger/Good Luck!". Color, 10x8. Air Force Captain CHARLES E. "CHUCK" YEAGER became the first person to break the sound barrier on October 14, 1947, when his X-1 rocket-powered research plan streaked at over 662 miles an hour over Rogers Dry Lake in southern California. Exactly 50 years later on October 14, 1997, Yeager, who had retired from the Air Force with the rank of Brigadier General (1975), duplicated his feat. Fine condition.
