Autograph check signed: "Clifford C Nutt.", in black ink, 7¾x3. August 30, 1921. Drawn on
the account of The Riggs National Bank, payable to Capt. W.E. Weirst for the amount of
$7.50. Brigadier General Clifford C. Nutt (1896-1952) was an aviator in the early 1900's,
notable for performing exhibition flights for the U.S. Army, with his flight from New
York to Alaska earning him a Distinguished Service Cross. His flight experience would
come into play during WWII, serving as an executive officer and deputy commander,
directing the Hawaiian Air Depot in supplying and repairing equipment for the US Air
Force. He would hold various positions after WWII, including Chief of Staff of the 1st Air
Force, but retired in 1949 with 31 years of service. Fine condition.
