Official U.S. Army photograph of Lieutenant Colonel Cutler as Professor of Electricity at West Point in 1958.
Photograph signed: "Elliott C. Cutler Jr./Colonel USA/Professor of Electricity/USMA". B/w, 8x10. Official U.S. Army photograph taken on June 13, 1958. Mimeographed caption on verso, in part: "Lt. Col. Elliott C. Cutler, Jr./Department of Electrical Engineering./USMA, West Point, New York". Elliott Carr Cutler, Jr., who had graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1942, served in WWII and in the Korean Conflict. After receiving a Doctorate in Engineering from Georgia Tech, he became Professor of Electrical Engineering at West Point. During his tenure, Cutler championed the use of computers in the Academy's curriculum, resulting in the establishment of the Academic Computer Committee, which would bring the school into the technological age. Cutler, who retired as a Brigadier General after 35 years of military service, died in 2006 at the age of 86.Slightly creased at blank margins and corners, file nicks at blank left edge. Minor surface creases, striations and stains (most not evident head on), light vertical stain at the "er" of Cutler and three words of writing. Overall, fine condition.
