HIRAM BURNHAM
Hiram Burnham signs a document authorizing the requisition for 50
pairs of leggings.
Partly printed Document Signed: "Hiram Burnham" as
Colonel, 1p, 8x10. Camp near Potomac Creek, Va., 1863 March 9. As
Commanding Colonel of the 6th Maine Volunteers. Burnham authorizes a requisition
for "50 pairs of leggins (sic)" to Lt. A.P.Buck, Regtl Quartermaster 6th Me.
Vols. U.S. Army, will issue the articles specified in the above requisition."
Also signed twice by Capt. J.H. Ballinger who requisitioned the "Fifty Pairs of
Leggins (sic)." Burnham who fought at Antietam, Fredericksburg and
Chancellorsville, was killed on the outer line of the Richmond defenses,
September 29, 1864. Minor ink spots, else fine condition.
