JAMES H. DOOLITTLE
Signed WWII trading card issued in 1942.
Trading Card signed: "J.H. Doolittle", color, 2¾x2¼. Printed on verso: "Brig. Gen. James A./Doolittle, U.S. Army/No. 140/ This famous flyer already world renowned for his intrepid feats in the air and for his aid in developing the effectiveness and safety of the present day war plane. Gen. Doolittle and 79 other heroic flyers bombed Tokyo this year for the first time in History-We want more, Jimmy!" The card erroneously lists Doolittle's middle initial as "A". On April 18, 1942, Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle led a force of 16 B-25 aircraft from Naval aircraft carriers to bomb targets at Yokohama and Tokyo, Japan. The raid was credited with boosting American morale after the Pearl Harbor attack four months earlier. Worn at edges and corners with some surface scuffs. Overall, fine condition.
