To Mr. Barnee Breeskin, Circus Saints & Sinners Club of America, Washington, D.C. In full: "The Circus Saints & Sinners Luncheon went off beautifully. I've been to several in New York and have never seen the Fall Guy so kindly and generously treated. (I didn't get a single 'wound'.) I want to express my deep appreciation to you and all of your associates for a most enjoyable time. The picture, silver plate and other gifts will long be tangible reminders of a truly delightful interlude. Am very pleased that you designated the Air Force Village to receive the Circus Saints & Sinners $500 check and that Mr. Charles R. Van Horn forwarded it to them in his letter of the ninth. They are fine people and will be very grateful. Again my deep appreciation together with every good wish to all there for the Holiday Season and the New Year. Very sincerely". In 1922, Jimmy Doolittle made the first transcontinental flight in less than 24 hours. In the 1920s and 1930s, he set various speed and flight records. In World War II, Doolittle and 79 other fighter pilots ("Doolittle's Raiders") bombed Tokyo on April 18, 1942, the first air attack on the Japanese capital. Also hit were targets in Yokohama and other cities, scoring a huge victory for United States morale at a time when Japan's position in the Pacific seemed impregnable. Doolittle was promoted to Brigadier General the next day and was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for the raid. Fold creases not near signature. Fine condition.
