"Thank you for your letter of May 21. I greatly appreciate your sentiments on
the death of my Father. I am delighted to comply with your requests. An

when he died on March 28, 1969, 11 weeks before John wrote this letter.

was not yet four years old when he died of scarlet fever. The following year,
JOHN S.D. EISENHOWER (1922-2013) attended West Point, but his father did
not attend his graduation. It was held on June 6, 1944, and the General was busy
invading Normandy that day. John was commissioned Second Lieutenant and served
on General Omar Bradley's staff. President Nixon named John Eisenhower U.S.
Ambassador to Belgium (1969-1971). Nixon's daughter Julie had married
John's son David in 1968. John Eisenhower was married to Barbara Jean
Thompson from 1947 until their divorce in 1986. Fine
condition.
