Wilson extending "most cordial congratulations and good wishes to Mrs.
Wilson and yourself...." During the Civil War, Stewart L. Woodford
(1835-1913) served in the Union Army as Lieutenant Colonel of the 127th New York
Volunteers. He was Colonel of the 103rd U.S. Colored Infantry and was brevetted
Brigadier General of Volunteers in 1865. After the Civil War, Woodford was the
first Union military commander of Charleston, S.C., and of Savannah, Ga. Union
General James Grant Wilson co edited Appleton's Cyclopedia of American
Biography. Lightly creased and toned. Corners and edges worn. Otherwise,
fine condition.
