Magazine photograph signed: "Bruce Jenner". Color, 8¼x10¾ overall, image 7x8¾ (one
surface). Bruce Jenner (b. 1949), now known as Caitlyn Jenner, won the Olympic
decathlon event at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal, Canada, and immediately
became a star. Jenner set a new world record in the event that year and leapt to stardom,
partially because the decathlon was won by the U.S.S.R. representative in 1972. After Jenner
won the Gold medal in 1976, Cold War tensions made him an instant American hero.
Before taking the Gold, Jenner won the event at the U.S. National Championship in 1974
and 1976. Jenner was inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1980 and
into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1986. Following his successful career as an Olympic
athlete, Jenner took advantage of this newfound celebrity and appeared in over a dozen screen
productions. Most notably, the Olympian appeared in CHiPs in 1981 in a recurring role as
Officer Steve McLeish. The biggest sign of Jenner's stardom was his position as the
Wheaties spokesperson from 1977 to 1984. The athlete even appeared on the cereal box!
As the husband (and ex-husband) of Kris Kardashian, Jenner also stars in the reality television
series Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007-2016). In 2015, Jenner gained a huge amount
of support after announcing on national television that he was a trans woman. She
famously appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair and has become a leader of the transgender
rights movement. Jenner legally changed her name to Caitlyn and her gender to female in
September of that year. As the most public representative of the modern transgender rights
movement, Caitlyn Jenner has starred in I Am Cait (2015-2016), a mini-series documentary
that follows her life. Her other credits as Caitlyn Marie Jenner include the Today show and
The 2015 ESPY Awards.Slightly creased at corners. Left margin jagged from being removed
from magazine. Otherwise, fine condition.
