BRUCE CRAMPTON
Full-length color photograph, for Taylor Made Golf Clubs, of golfer
Bruce Crampton in black pants, a red shirt and white hat and following through
on an iron shot. Signed "With my Best Wishes" in white ink in
1993.
Inscribed photograph signed "To Sharon,/With my Best Wishes,/Bruce
Crampton/1993". Color, 8x10 overall, 6¼x8¼ image, one image. Captioned:
"Bruce Campton/Taylor Made Advisory Staff Member/'Don't Hold Back'".
Known for his intense work ethic (and possibly apocryphal stories about his
bad attitude) on the course, Australian-born American golfer
Crampton, born in 1935, turned pro in 1953 and had 42 professional wins,
including 14 wins on the PGA Tour and 20 on the Champions Tour. He also won
the Vardon trophy, awarded to the PGA Tour player with the lowest stroke
average, in 1973 and 1975. Crampton has never won a major championship in
the U. S., but has come in second 4 times - once on the Masters, once on the U.
S. Open and twice on the PGA Championship; interestingly, all four second-place
finishes have been to Jack Nicklaus. Lightly creased, otherwise in fine
condition.
