BRUCE CRAMPTON
B/w photo of golfer Bruce Crampton in a white sweater, dark overshirt
and checked pants, with a wood in hand and watching his shot go down the
fairway. Signed with his "Best wishes" in silver ink.
Photograph signed "Best wishes/Bruce Crampton" in silver ink.
B/w, 8x10 overall, 7½x9½ image, one surface. Known for his intense work ethic
(and possibly apocryphal stories about his bad attitude) on the course,
Australian-born American golfer Crampton, born in 1935, turned pro in
1953 and had 42 professional wins, including 14 wins on the PGA Tour and 20 on
the Champions Tour. He also won the Vardon trophy, awarded to the PGA Tour
player with the lowest stroke average, in 1973 and 1975. Crampton has never
won a major championship in the U. S., but has come in second 4 times - once on
the Masters, once on the U. S. Open and twice on the PGA Championship;
interestingly, all four second-place finishes have been to Jack Nicklaus.
Signature has poor adhesion but is legible. Rounded corners. Otherwise in fine
condition.
