New Mexico Governor Bruce King responds to a letter regarding his
favorite quote
Typed Letter signed: "Bruce King",
1p. 6½x8½, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 1979 August7, governor's official
letterhead. To: Paul Friscat, West Canton, Ohio. In Full: "In reply to your
recent letter, I always say my favorite quote is one from Will Rogers who said,
'I never met a man I didn't like'. I have always tried to live by that
philosophy both in my public and private life. I have enclosed a photograph
[not included] and some information about the state of New Mexico which I
hope you enjoy. Sincerely," BRUCE KING (1924-2009) was Governor of
New Mexico from 1971-1975, 1979-1983 and 1991-1995. King, a veteran of WWII,
had previously served in the New Mexico State House of Representatives
(1960-1970), and he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention
in 1980. His son, Gary King, is the Attorney General of New Mexico
(2007-). Fine condition.
