BRUCE HURST Signed commemorative envelope showing him as the first Red Sox lefthander since Babe Ruth to win a World Series Game in Fenway Park Commemorative Envelope signed: "Bruce Hurst", 6½x3½. Envelope with color cachet showing Hurst on the mound, winning Game 5 of the 1986 World Series. Postmarked World Series Station, Boston, Massachusetts, October 23, 1986 (the date of the game), 22-cent US flag stamp affixed. Southpaw Bruce Hurst pitched 15 seasons in the Major Leagues, 9 with the Boston Red Sox (1980-1988) and 4½ with the San Diego Padres (1989-1993) before finishing his career with the Rockies and Rangers through 1994. Never the single best pitcher in the league, he was consistently one of the best, logging double-digit wins 10 seasons in a row and finishing with a career 145-113 mark. He won two games in the 1986 World Series, as noted on this envelope, and was about to be named World Series MVP until the Mets' rally in Game 6 turned the Series around. Hurst coached China's team in the 2006 World Championship Series. Lightly toned at top edge on front with dark toning at top edge of verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
