BUCKMINSTER FULLER
Engineer Buckminster Fuller signed this letter, typed on stationery of the University of Bristol's Department of Architecture, in 1965 to make corrections to a piece he sent to The Saturday Evening Post.
TLS: "Buckminster Fuller". Erased pencil notations in top left corner in unknown hand. 1 page, 5¾x8¼, on stationery of the University of Bristol's Department of Architecture. June 11, 1965. Addressed to Mr. John Hunt, The Saturday Evening Post, The Curtis Publishing Company, New York City. In full: "Dear Mr. Hunt, I have been through the piece I sent you on 9th and find that there are one or two corrections, the most important of which is the deletion of the word 'more' on page 7, which I should be glad if you would make to the copies I have already sent you. With good wishes, Faithfully yours, Buckminster Fuller". In 1947, Fuller developed the geodesic dome, which replaced the conventional arch principle of straight lines and squares with connecting triangles that derived strength from a constant state of tension and compression. His design, one of over 2,000 inventions that he patented, was adopted worldwide to shelter both scientific equipment and humans. Lightly toned, soiled and creased. Light tear near top right corner. Rust stain and paper clip impression in top left corner. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
