BUCKMINSTER FULLER - TYPED NOTE SIGNED 04/16/1971 - HFSID 217338
Price: $375.00
BUCKMINSTER FULLER. Typed Note signed: "Buckminster
Fuller", 1p, 8½x11. Carbondale, Illinois, 1971 April 16. On his imprinted
stationery to Mr. Joseph Kover, New York. In full: "Though I very
greatly admire the scouts, I was not one myself. Best regards." The
original thinking of Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller,
the futurist who asserted that all human needs could be met through technology
and planning, opened up new possibilities for "Spaceship Earth" (a term
that he coined). "Bucky", who also coined "synergetics", held patents to
over 2,000 inventions, including a pole-suspended Dymaxion House
(1927), the Dymaxion Air-ocean World Map (1943) and a World Game (1969) that
predicted and solved world problems. The prolific author and inventor is
perhaps best known however, for the geodesic dome that he developed in 1947.
His dome replaced the conventional arch principle of straight lines and
squares with connecting triangles that derived strength from a constant state of
tension and compression. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
