BUCKMINSTER FULLER. Souvenir Typescript signed: "Buckminster Fuller", 1p, 8½x11. Poem by Fuller titled: Untitled Epic Poem about the period between 1890 and 1920. In part: "The probabilities of good fortune/in almost any individual enterprise/were exceedingly high,/and reputation as a guesser/far outranked reputation as a rationalizer...." The original thinking of Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller, the futurist who asserted that all human needs could be met through technology and planning, opened up new possibilities for "Spaceship Earth" (a term that he coined). "Bucky", who also coined "synergetics", held patents to over 2,000 inventions, including a pole-suspended Dymaxion House (1927), the Dymaxion Air-ocean World Map (1943) and a World Game (1969) that predicted and solved world problems. The prolific author and inventor is perhaps best known however, for the geodesic dome that he developed in 1947. His dome replaced the conventional arch principle of straight lines and squares with connecting triangles that derived strength from a constant state of tension and compression. Lightly creased, else fine condition.
