BUDDY HACKETT
Shown sharing a horse with Spike Jones and Hugh O'Brian in an inscribed still from Fireman Save My Child (1954)
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Fondly/Buddy Hackett/to/'Emily'/1954 Then/1999 Now". B/w, 10x8. Baby-faced comedian Buddy Hackett (1924-2003), born Leonard Hacker, was equally comfortable as a risqué, improvisational nightclub entertainer and a figure in family films such as The Music Man (1962) and The Love Bug (1968). Appearing on TV early (1945), he had his own sitcom a decade later (Stanley, 1956). In addition to his film and television roles, Hackett starred in the Broadway comedy, Lunatics and Lovers (1953). Fireman Save My Child (1954) was originally intended as an Abbott and Costello comedy, and they can still be seen in some long shots. But Abbott got sick, and the comedy team of Hackett and (Hugh) O'Brian (!?!) was brought in to replace them. Spike Jones and his band added to the mayhem. Caption at lower blank margin. Toned and creased edges. Corners creased. Otherwise fine condition.
