BUFFY SAINT-MARIE
Picture post card featuring the Native American singer, songwriter, and activist, signed to a fan with a heart (4x6). Extremely rare!
Inscribed picture post card signed: "To: John/[drawn heart]/Buffy Saint Marie", in blue felt tip, 4x6. Born on the Piapot Cree First Nations Reserve in the Qu'Appelle Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada, Buffy Saint-Marie (b. 1941) became a voice for the Indigenous peoples of the Americas with her work through song and visual art. A self-taught piano and guitarist, Saint-Marie became extremely popular in the 1960's, touring primarily across the United States and Canada, releasing hits like "Until It's Time for You to Go", which has been covered by a slew of musicians. She resonated with the anti-war movement of the 1960's, and had become famous by the 1970's, making appearances on Sesame Street regularly. Saint-Marie has continued to be an activist for Native American culture and rights in recent years, still singing, but also lending herself to film and television. Corners and edges lightly worn. Corners slightly creased. Fine condition.
