BURNS TWINS (BURNS TWINS AND EVELYN)
The twin brothers Jimmy and Edward Burns of the Burns Twins and Evelyn sign this publicity photo for MCA records. Extremely rare!
Inscribed printed photograph signed in ink: "To Bob/with our very/best wishes./Your friends/ Burns Twins/Burns Twins and Evelyn", in black ink. Sepia-toned, 8x10. Captioned in lower margin for MCA records, Burns Twins and Evelyn. Burns Twins and Evelyn was a singing, dancing tap trio on vaudeville during the 1930s. Consisting of Jimmy Burns, Edward Burns and Jimmy's wife Evelyn, the trio toured the U.S. and internationally. A comedic and entertaining group, they were also known for their all-around beauty, the boys included: Jimmy with his suave, silky charm, and Edward with his deep, probing stare. Evelyn, blonde and slender with the most indulging smile, fronted the trio with a natural grace. After the end of vaudeville they continued to perform in acts in Las Vegas before retiring to Kansas City in the 1960s where they lived out the remainder of their days. The Burns brothers, who made Kansas City their home for 50 years, were members of the American Guild of Variety Artists. Bowed. Surface creases (seen head on). Pin-sized hole at top and lower margins. Creased at margins and corners. Signature in adequate contrast, legible. Photographer's stamp on verso. Lightly soiled in lower margin.
