Rapper Busta Rhymes, born Trevor Smith, Jr. in 1972, formed Leaders of the New School in 1990, and the group released two albums before breaking up in 1994. Two years later, Rhymes, who is known for the complexity and inventiveness of his lyrics and delivery, released his debut album, The Coming, which not only was a big hit, but also gave the rapper a Top 10 hit single, "Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check". In addition to releasing his own albums, Rhymes as be heard on a number of other projects, working with such groups and artists as A Tribe Called Quest, Notorious B.I.G. and LL Cool J, Boyz II Men, Mary J. Bilge and TLC. Rhymes, who contributed songs to the soundtracks of several feature films, including Space Jam (1996), The Mod Squad (1999), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001), has also been seen on the big screen in such films as Higher Learning (1995), Shaft (2000) and Finding Forrester (2000). After making his television debut as a member of Leaders of the New School in 1991, he has also guest starred on several series and in TV specials.
