BYRON NELSON
Black and white photograph of an older Byron Nelson swinging a golf club.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Eddie & Betty Sousa/Good luck/Byron Nelson". B/w, 7½x10. American golfer Byron Nelson (1912-2006) was called a "mechanical" golfer because his play was so consistent. He won a record 11 consecutive golf tournaments in 1945, and Nelson won the Masters in 1937 and 1942, the U.S. Open in 1939 and the PGA Championship in 1940 and 1945. He was elected to the PGA Hall of Fame in 1953 and the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974. Lightly creased and soiled at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases and impressions (most not evident head on). Soiled and stained on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
