1935. English stage and film actor [Charles] C. Aubrey Smith (1863-1948) was an
internationally renowned cricket star before beginning his acting career. He made his London
stage debut in 1895, his silent film premier in 1914. His The Bachelor Father (1928) was his
breakthrough role to American audiences, after which he played the quintessential upper-class
Englishman in many films. These included Lives of the Bengal Lancers (1935), The Four
Feathers and The Sun Never Sets (both 1939) and Scotland Yard Investigator (1945). He was
knighted in 1944, honored for his positive portrayal of English characters to foreign audiences.
Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and
theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers
offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign
in fountain pen. Lightly creased. Corners lightly worn and creased. Lightly toned around
edges. pin size holes at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
