CAMELOT MOVIE CAST: RICHARD HARRIS, VANESSA REDGRAVE and FRANCO NERO
All three stars sign the front cover of a laser disc for the musical Camelot
Laser Disc Cover signed: "Richard Harris", "Franco/Nero", "Vanessa/Redgrave", 12¼x12¼ cover for the Warner Home Video laser disc of the film Camelot. The 1967 film version of Camelot, based on Lerner and Loewe's Broadway musical, starred Richard Harris as King Arthur, Vanessa Redgrave as Queen Guenevere and Franco Nero as Lancelot du Lac, the knight who comes between them. The film won 6 Academy Awards. Harris won a Golden Globe, while Redgrave and Nero earned nominations for the Globe. RICHARD HARRIS (1932-2002), a native of Limerick, Ireland, found success on the stage and screen and had a hit record with "MacArthur Park". In 1983, he starred in Triumphs of a Man Called Horse. Nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in 1963 (The Sporting Life) and 1990 (The Field), Harris was also featured in The Guns of Navarone (1961), Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), Major Dundee (1965), A Man Called Horse (1970), Robin and Marian (1976), Patriot Games and Unforgiven (1992), Gladiator (2000) and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). VANESSA REDGRAVE (born in London in 1937) won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award and Golden Globe for Julia (1977), and she has been nominated for Best Actress Oscars for Morgan! (1966), Isadora (1968), Mary, Queen of Scotts (1971), The Bostonians (1984) and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Howards End (1992). She also won the 2003 Tony Award for Best Actress for the revival of Long Day's Journey Into Night. Redgrave, the daughter of distinguished actor, Sir Michael Redgrave, and sister of actor Corin Redgrave and actress Lynn Redgrave (with whom she appeared in the 1991 remake of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?), was married to director Tony Richardson from 1962 until their divorce in 1967. In addition to her daughters, actresses Natasha Richardson and Joely Richardson with Richardson, Redgrave also has a son by Franco Nero, her co-star in the 1967 film, Camelot. Also known for her social activism, Redgrave allegedly refused to be honored as Dame of the Order of the British Empire in 1999. Camelot was FRANCO NERO's first starring role in an English-language film, although he had dozens of starring roles in his native Italy. Other English-language roles include the spaghetti western Django (1966) and the villain in Die Hard 2. Redgrave and Nero took their Camelot roles off screen too, having a son together.
