ALAN L. BEAN
Signed copy of his book, Painting Apollo: First Artist on Another World
Book signed: "Alan Bean", 11½x10½, 225 pages.  Painting Apollo: First Artist on Another World, by Alan Bean. Washington, DC: Smithsonian Books, 2009. First edition. Hardcover with dust jacket. Signed in gold ink on the half-title page. Accompanied by JSA authentication COA and JSA authentication sticker (F82771). US astronaut Alan L. Bean (1932-2018) was selected by NASA (as part of the third group of astronauts) in 1963. The Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 12 in November 1969, Bean was the fourth man to walk on the Moon. From July 29-September 25, 1973, Bean was Spacecraft Commander of Skylab 3, the second manned mission to link up with Skylab. Bean, who retired from the U.S. Navy in October 1975, resigned from NASA in June 1981 to devote time to painting. His paintings of the moon and space, which hang on the walls of many space enthusiasts, include a small patch from his astronaut's suit, which picked up bits of moon dust.
