Inscribed image in his wartime flying gear, atop a lengthy caption in which he describes one of his missions and praises the "Hellcat" fighter.
Printed Photograph signed in ink: "Best regards/To Dave -/Bob Coats/VF-18". B/w, 4x9¼. In the printed caption, Coats describes a March 19  mission over the Japanese home island of Kyushu. American World War II Navy pilot Robert Charles Coats (1918-2011) flew a Hellcat with the VF-17 and VF-18 fighter squadrons from the carriers Bunker Hill and Hornet in the Pacific Theatre, recording 9.33 kills. His decorations included the Navy Cross and the Distinguished Flying Cross. Fine condition.
