During the mission which was delayed six times from its original December 18th
launch date, SATCOM KU-1 (RCA Americom) satellite, attached to Payload Assist
Module-D2 (PAM-D2) motor, was deployed. During the Comet Halley Active
Monitoring Program (CHAMP) experiment, a 35mm camera to photograph Comet Halley
did not function properly due to battery problems and was reassigned to the
Challenger STS-51L mission launched ten days after Columbia returned to
Earth. Yellow haloing behind signatures, reaction of ink on paper. Overall, fine
condition.
