Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers sign a publicity photograph depicting a lobby card for Carefree.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Fred Astaire" and "To Frank-/Blessings/Ginger Rogers". B/w, 10x8. Depicting a lobby card for Carefree, the 1938 Irving Berlin musical starring FRED ASTAIRE (1899-1987) and GINGER ROGERS (1911-1995) in their eighth film together. Astaire plays Dr. Tony Flagg, a psychiatrist, who enters the psyche of Amanda Cooper (Rogers), a radio singer whom Tony's friend Stephen Arden (Ralph Bellamy) takes to see him. It seems Arden thinks that Amanda needs psychiatric help since she can't reach a decision regarding Stephen's proposal of marriage to her. As Tony explores her subconscious dream life, she falls in love with him. Carefree was nominated for three 1939 Academy Awards, including Best Song (Irving Berlin for "Change Partners and Dance with Me"). Nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 1974 for The Towering Inferno, Astaire was given a special Oscar in 1949 for his contribution to films. Rogers won the 1940 Academy Award for Best Actress for the title role in Kitty Foyle. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 16¼x22¼.
